A field test has been recently carried out on the antenna of the Radar for Icy Moon Exploration – RIME (Principal Investigator: Prof. Lorenzo Bruzzone) that will be on board the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE).…
The paper “Detection of Lunar Lava Tubes with Orbiting Radar Sounder Systems,” by L. Carrer, C. Gerekos and L. Bruzzone (presented at the European Planetary Science Congress 201, Riga, Latvia) has raised large interest not only in the scientific community…
The progress in the development of the Radar for Icy Moon Exploration (RIME) in the framework of the Jupiter Icy Moon Explorer (JUICE) of the European Space Agency and the recent successful achievements are briefly highlighted from the local and national newspapers.…
The November 2016 issue of the “Focus” magazine includes an article on planetary oceans which contains an interview to Prof. Bruzzone in relation to the Radar for Icy Moon Exploration (RIME) on the JUICE (JUpiter ICy moon Explorer) mission of European…
NASA announced the selection of REASON (Radar for Europa Assessment and Sounding: Ocean to Near-surface) in the payload for the mission to the Jovianmoon Europa expected to be launched after 2020. REASON is an Ice Penetrating Radaraimed to study the sub-surface of Europa until a depth of 30 km!
RSLab has a major role in the mission as Prof. Bruzzone is the Principal Investigator of RIME (Radar for Icy Moon Exploration). RIME is a radar sounder designed to penetrate the icy crust of Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto (Jupiter icy moons) to a depth of about 9 kilometers. RIME will allow scientists to see for the first time the underground structure of these tectonically complex and unique icy worlds and could lead to the direct detection of subsurface water, which is one of the basic ingredients for the identification of life on the Jupiter moons
University of Trento and RSLab activities have been presented in an article published on “The Irish Time” newspaper with the title: “Building a Silicon Valley in the Italian Alps”. See
Prof. Lorenzo Bruzzone is included in the ranking of the top 10 international scientists in the field of remote sensing.
