An RSLab study published in ๐๐ข๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด demonstratesโ for the first time โ the presence of a massive cave at the bottom of a Venusian skylight in the Nyx Mons region.
This discovery was made possible by reprocessing synthetic aperture radar data acquired in the 1990s by the Magellan instrument onboard NASAโs Magellan spacecraft.
This work marks the first step in an exciting journey toward exploring the subsurface of Venus โ a frontier that will be further investigated by ESAโs EnVisionย mission and NASA’s VERITAS missions.
