Announced the departure of the ESA’s spacecraft JUICE (Jupiter for ICy moon Explorer) from the Toulouse facilities to the Kourou base in French Guiana for launch in the second half of April.
JUICE’s objective will be to study the icy moons (Ganymede, Europa and Callisto) of the Jovian system.
Among the 11 instruments on board JUICE there will be the radar sounder RIME (Radar for Icy Moon Exploration), designed and studied at RSLab which has the leadership of the instrument.
RIME’s goal will be to penetrate the icy surface of the Galilean satellites down to a depth of 9 km with a vertical resolution of up to 30 m.
