The European Space Agency (ESA) announced the final approval and selection of the “JUpiter ICy moon Explorer (JUICE),” which is the largest mission planned for the exploration of the solar system in the next 20 years (830 MEuros plus the costs of the payloads, for a final estimation of about 1.1 Billion Euros). JUICE has emerged from a five-year-long competition with many other missions. RSLab was involved in the definition of the mission and leads the team that is studying the the radar sounder instrument aimed at the analysis of the subsurface of the icy moons Ganymede, Europa and Callisto. | |
